Hello! I am Daphne. I just graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Public Policy and Psychology. When I was a junior in college, my bedroom window overlooked the backyard of a fraternity. Every weekend I would wake up to see hundreds of red plastic party cups strewn across the blacktop. On game days, there would be hundreds of thousands of plastic cups on campus. This infuriated me because the plastic could not be recycled, but I was guilty of using these cups too. From large parties to small get-togethers, I would use these cups for just 15 minutes, while the plastic stayed on earth for 450-1,000 years. When I was in high school, students brought plastic water bottles to school everyday. When I look around my college classroom, just four years later, every student has a reusable water bottle. Inspired by this behavior change, I decided to create a stainless steel party cup that we can rinse and reuse forever — a SUPCUP. My goal with SUPCUPs is to make it easy and cool for people to develop sustainable habits.
